Reddit is the ad platform where you pick the room. Instead of describing a person and hoping the platform finds them, you put your ad inside the exact communities where your customers already ask for advice. It is also a platform most people never touch, because Ads Manager is one more dashboard to learn, and the requirements (a pixel, a payment method, a business profile) trip up first launches.

This guide is the full setup, start to finish: add AdWhispr to ChatGPT, get your Reddit Ads account ready, connect it, and end up with an assistant that can find the right subreddits, write and build the campaign, and manage it afterwards, all in one conversation. No code, a few minutes, and most of that is Reddit's side of the paperwork.

What you get when you connect Reddit Ads to ChatGPT

A quick word on what you're actually getting, because "ChatGPT can run my ads" can mean very different things. With AdWhispr, the Reddit side covers three jobs:

  • Find the communities to target. Ask for subreddits that fit your subject and you get real ones with their member counts, plus matching interest categories. The same lookup covers locations, your existing audiences for retargeting, and the account's pixels. You never guess a community name.
  • Launch the whole campaign in one request, paused. The campaign, the ad group with its daily budget and targeting, and the promoted post that runs as the ad are built together. You see a preview of the exact headline, image and link first, and nothing spends until you resume it.
  • Manage and report. Pause, resume, change the budget, rename, and read spend, impressions, clicks, click rate, cost per click, and the purchases and leads your pixel reported.

The research half and the execution half live in the same app. Reddit publishes no public ad library, so AdWhispr can't show you competitors' Reddit ads. What it can do is find which competitors are advertising right now, show you their longest-running ads, and clone a winner for your brand as an image ad. That image lands in your Creative Library, and you can launch it on Reddit from the same chat. For the full picture of how Reddit Ads works, see How to Advertise on Reddit.

Step 1: Add AdWhispr to ChatGPT

AdWhispr is in ChatGPT's app store, so there is nothing to paste and no Developer mode to turn on.

  1. Open AdWhispr in ChatGPT's app store.
  2. Click Install.
  3. Sign in to AdWhispr, or create a free account. No credit card.

To confirm it works, start a new chat and ask ChatGPT to use AdWhispr to find your competitors. If it comes back with real brands that are advertising right now, you're live. If it answers from general knowledge, name AdWhispr in the prompt. More on what the app does in the announcement.

Step 2: Get your Reddit Ads account ready

Reddit has requirements that no launch can skip, and they all live in Reddit Ads Manager at ads.reddit.com:

  • A payment method, under Billing. Reddit does not let AdWhispr add one. A campaign can be built without it, but Reddit holds it until billing is in place.
  • A pixel on the account, under Events Manager. Reddit requires one on every ad group, whatever the goal, including plain traffic campaigns. It takes a minute to create, and it does not have to be installed on your site before you launch. Install it when you want Reddit to count purchases or leads.
  • A Reddit profile for the business, under Business settings. Every Reddit ad is a post, and every post needs an author.

If you have never launched a Reddit ad by hand, sort these out first. A missing pixel is the most common reason a connection works but a launch stops.

Step 3: Connect your Reddit Ads account

Back in ChatGPT, ask:

Connect my Reddit Ads account.

ChatGPT sends you a link. Open it and sign in with the Reddit account that has access to your ad account. You approve on Reddit's own screen, and AdWhispr never sees your password. Every ad account in the businesses that login belongs to then shows up as connected. Confirm what you're pointed at:

Which ad accounts are connected?

Check it's the right one before you spend. That's the whole setup: no API keys, no developer application.

Six prompts to try first

Start with the lookup. It changes nothing in your account and it's the fastest proof the connection works.

Find Reddit communities for home espresso. Which ones are
the biggest, and which interest categories match?
Who are my competitors, and which of their ads have been
running the longest? My site is yourstore.com

Longevity is the signal we trust: brands don't keep paying to run losing ads. Then turn a winner into your own creative:

Clone that ad for my brand as an image ad, with my product in it.

ChatGPT hands you a link to the finished ad in the AdWhispr app, and it lands in your Creative Library. Then the execution prompts:

Launch a Reddit campaign called "Grinder launch" for traffic at
20 a day, targeting the three biggest espresso communities in
the US. Headline: "We measured 12 grinders at the same setting.
Here is how much the grind actually varied." Use my cloned image
and link to my site.
How did my Reddit ads do this week? If "Grinder launch" is
getting clicks, raise the budget to 30 a day.
Pause "Grinder launch".

A tip from the playbook in our Reddit Ads guide: give two or more posts in one launch, for example an image ad and a plain text post, and they run as a creative test in the same ad group. On Reddit the text post wins more often than people expect.

The honest state of Reddit ads from a chat in 2026

Worth knowing before you set expectations.

There is no Reddit ad library. Meta publishes every active ad from every advertiser. Reddit publishes nothing comparable, so no tool can show you exactly what a competitor runs on Reddit. Competitor research in AdWhispr works from what is public on other platforms, and the clone you make from it can still run on Reddit.

Goals and formats. Traffic (the default), sales, leads and awareness. Sales and leads optimize for purchases or leads your pixel counts. App installs, video views and catalog sales are set up in Reddit Ads Manager. Ads are image posts or text posts; video ads are not built from the chat yet.

An age range cannot be set from the chat. Reddit's API does not accept one, so it is left out and the chat says so. Add it in Reddit Ads Manager if you need it. Communities, interests, keywords, locations, gender and your existing audiences all work.

The words of an ad cannot be edited once it exists. The headline and image live on the post itself. Budget, targeting, name and on or off can all change. To change the copy, create a new ad and pause the old one.

Numbers take a while to settle. Reddit says its figures can take up to six hours to settle, so judge full days, not this morning.

Nothing spends without your instruction

A reasonable worry with any tool that touches a live ad account: connecting Reddit Ads to ChatGPT does not let anything spend money on its own. Every campaign is created paused. You see the preview before it's built, and it starts spending only when you ask ChatGPT to resume it, which it confirms with you first. Reddit then reviews each ad before it shows. Budgets change when you say "change the budget," and campaigns stop when you say "pause." The connection is a capability, not an autopilot.

FAQ

Can ChatGPT launch Reddit ads?

Yes, once AdWhispr is installed in ChatGPT and your Reddit Ads account is connected. One request builds the campaign, the ad group with its budget and targeting, and the promoted post, all paused, after a preview you confirm.

Do I need a pixel if I only want clicks?

Yes. Reddit requires a pixel on every ad group, including traffic campaigns. Creating one in Events Manager is enough to launch; installing it on your site is what makes purchase and lead counts work.

Can I target specific subreddits?

Yes, and it's the main reason to advertise on Reddit. Ask ChatGPT to find communities for your subject, pick the ones that fit, and name them in the launch.

What is the smallest budget I can set?

Reddit's minimum is 5 a day in your ad account's currency. You pay Reddit directly for your ad spend, as with any platform.

Can I see what my competitors run on Reddit?

No. Reddit has no public ad library to read. You can still find which competitors are advertising right now on other platforms, see their longest-running ads, and clone a winner to run on Reddit.

The short version

Two connections, once each: install AdWhispr from ChatGPT's app store, then say "Connect my Reddit Ads account" and approve on Reddit's own screen. After that, finding communities, launching paused campaigns, and managing budgets and performance all live in one ChatGPT conversation, next to Meta, Google, TikTok, X and ChatGPT Ads.
