X Ads Manager is not where most people want to spend their afternoon. Campaigns, line items, targeting criteria, web event tags: it's a lot of screens for what is usually a simple intent, like "promote this post to people who search for marketing automation, 30 a day." Claude understands that sentence perfectly. On its own, it just can't do anything with it.

AdWhispr closes that gap. It's in the Claude directory, so this guide is the full setup, start to finish: add AdWhispr to Claude, link your X Ads account, and end up with an assistant that writes the promoted post, sets the targeting, builds the campaign paused, and manages it after launch, all in one conversation. No code, a few minutes, and most of that is X's side of the paperwork.

What you get when you connect X Ads to Claude

A quick word on what you're actually getting. With AdWhispr, the X side covers four jobs:

  • Launch promoted posts. One request builds the campaign, its ad group (X calls it a line item) and the promoted post that runs as the ad: your text, your own image and your landing link. Everything is created paused.
  • Run creative tests. Give two or more posts and they run as a creative test in one ad group, where X shifts the budget toward the winner.
  • Target the way X works best. Keywords (X's signature lever), interests, existing audiences for retargeting, country, gender and an age floor, all in the same request. Claude can look up X's interest and audience ids first, so real ids go into the campaign.
  • Optimize for conversions and manage what's running. A sales or leads goal optimizes for a conversion on your X web event tag (X's pixel) instead of just clicks. After launch, Claude reads performance, changes budgets, renames, and pauses or resumes campaigns when you ask.

The same AdWhispr account also covers Meta, Google, TikTok, Reddit, ChatGPT Ads and LinkedIn, and the research side (which competitors are advertising right now, their longest-running ads, TikTok ads and scripts, Google keywords) is there when you want ideas for what to post. If TikTok is next on your list, the TikTok Ads and Claude guide walks through that side.

Step 1: Add AdWhispr to Claude

AdWhispr is in the Claude directory, so it's one click.

  1. Open AdWhispr in the Claude directory.
  2. Click Connect.
  3. Sign in to AdWhispr, or create a free account. No credit card.

That's the whole install: no links to paste, no settings to dig through. Working in Claude Code or Cowork? You can also install the AdWhispr Ads & Marketing Agent plugin from the Plugins menu.

Already use AdWhispr in ChatGPT or on the web? Sign in with the same account and your saved brand comes with you. If ChatGPT is where you spend your day, here is the same setup for ChatGPT.

To confirm it works, start a new chat and ask Claude to use AdWhispr to show you which competitors in your space are advertising right now. If it comes back with real brands and real ads, you're live. If it answers from general knowledge, name AdWhispr explicitly in the prompt.

Step 2: Check your X Ads account

X has two requirements that no launch can skip, and neither is something AdWhispr can do for you:

  • A payment method on the ads account, under Payment methods at ads.x.com. X doesn't let any outside app add one. Without it, every campaign is refused, and Claude says so.
  • X Premium or a Verified Organization. X only serves ads from a verified account: X Premium for individuals, Verified Organizations for businesses. An unverified account can connect and build campaigns, but X holds the ads until the verification is done.

If you have never run an X ad before, sort these out first at ads.x.com. They're the most common reason a connection succeeds but a campaign never shows. The full list lives in our X docs.

Step 3: Connect your X Ads account

Back in Claude, ask:

Connect my X Ads account.

Claude gives you a link. Open it, sign in with the X account that has access to your X Ads account, and grant access on X's own screen. AdWhispr never sees your password. X asks for permission every time you connect, even if you connected before; that's how X works. You can also connect from the AdWhispr dashboard under Settings, then Connected accounts.

Then confirm what the connection can reach:

Which X ad accounts are connected?

Every X Ads account that login can manage shows up. X account ids are short letter-and-number ids (like 18ce54d4x5t), not the long numbers Meta uses. Check it's the right one before spending. That's the whole setup: no API keys, no developer application, no token babysitting.

Six prompts to try first

Start with a lookup. It's read-only and it's the fastest proof the connection works.

Find X interests for software, and show me my X conversion tags.

Then build a campaign:

Launch an X campaign called "Spring launch" for traffic at 30 a day.
Post: "Ship ads from a chat. Try AdWhispr." link adwhispr.com,
target the US, men 25 and up, keyword "marketing automation".

Claude shows you a preview (campaign, objective, daily budget, the post, the targeting) and creates it paused only when you say yes. X requires a daily budget on every campaign, so if you leave it out, Claude asks.

Run these three posts as a creative test on X at 40 a day:
[post one], [post two], [post three]. Link to my homepage.
Launch a sales campaign on X at 50 a day with this post:
[your post]. Optimize for purchases.

A sales goal picks a purchase tag on your account, and a leads goal picks a sign up tag. If the account has no tag, the campaign runs optimized for website clicks and Claude tells you.

And once something is running:

How are my X ads doing this month?
Change the Spring launch budget to 45 a day and rename it
to "Spring launch v2".

The honest state of X ads in 2026

Worth knowing before you set expectations, because X is not Meta.

There is no X ad library to research. X publishes no ad library outside the EU, so there's nothing to read about what competitors run on X, and AdWhispr doesn't pretend otherwise. For creative ideas, look at what competitors run on Meta and TikTok, where the proven winners are visible, and write your X posts from there.

X reports in seven-day windows. X only reports seven days at a time, so a longer range is read in seven-day pieces and added up. If X's reporting is slow to answer, Claude says so rather than showing zeros, and pause, resume and budget changes keep working. The numbers are always in X Ads Manager.

Use only images you own. The promoted post is built from your text, your image and your link, never a competitor's.

Nothing spends without your instruction

A reasonable worry with any tool that touches a live ad account: connecting X Ads to Claude does not let anything spend money on its own. A campaign is built only when you ask for one, with the budget you state, into the account you confirmed, and it's created paused. It starts spending only when you resume it, Claude warns you and waits for your confirmation first, and X then runs its own review before anything shows. Pause stops spend immediately, and pausing the campaign stops every ad group under it. Budget changes are previewed before they apply. The connection is a capability, not an autopilot.

FAQ

Do I need X Premium to run ads?

Yes, or a Verified Organization for a business. It's X's rule for every advertiser, not AdWhispr's. Campaigns can be built before you verify, but X won't serve them until you do.

Can Claude add a payment method to my X account?

No. X doesn't allow it through its API. Add it yourself at ads.x.com under Payment methods, then run the launch again.

Can Claude write the post for me?

Yes. Give the post text, your own image and a link in the launch request, or ask Claude to draft it with you first. The campaign, the ad group and the promoted post are created together, all paused.

Can I research competitors' X ads?

Not on X itself: X publishes no ad library outside the EU. You can still see which competitors are advertising right now and their longest-running ads on other platforms, and clone a winner for your brand, from the same chat.

What is the smallest budget I can set?

X sets no published floor for a daily budget, but a campaign can't spend more than the card on file allows. Start with what you would spend in X Ads Manager. More on objectives, targeting and conversions in the X docs.

The short version

Two connections, once each: add AdWhispr from the Claude directory, then connect your X Ads account from inside the chat. Add a payment method and get verified on X's side. After that, promoted posts, creative tests, keyword targeting, conversions and campaign management all live in one Claude conversation.
