Facebook Ad Generator That Starts From Ads Already Running

A Facebook ad generator is only as good as what you feed it. Feed it a competitor ad that has run for months instead of a product description, and the output inherits a track record.

There is no shortage of tools that will generate a Facebook ad for you. Describe the product, pick a tone, wait, download. The bottleneck was never generation, though. It is knowing which concept deserves the budget, and no amount of describing your product to a model answers that.

Facebook is the one platform where you do not have to guess, because Meta publishes every ad currently running. Your competitor's entire active set is public. So is the date each one started.

The generator is downstream of the decision

Two things happen when you make an ad. You decide what the ad should be, then you make it. Generators solve the second and pretend they solved the first.

The first is where the money goes. A well-produced ad built on a concept nobody wants costs the same to run as a rough one built on a concept that works, and it loses more.

So the question worth asking about any Facebook ad generator is what it uses to decide the concept. If the answer is "your prompt," the concept is a guess with good production values on top.

What Meta actually shows you

Not much, and more than enough.

Meta's public archive contains every ad running on Facebook and Instagram: the creative, the copy, the advertiser, and when it went live. What it does not contain is performance. No CTR, no CPC, no conversions, no ROAS, for anybody other than yourself. Tools that display a competitor's exact return on ad spend are showing you a fabricated number, and we do not print those.

The useful thing that is real: run time. Snapshot the archive daily and you know precisely how many days each ad has been continuously live.

Run time works as a proxy because of a boring fact about advertisers. They kill what loses. A Facebook ad still running after 150 days has been actively kept alive by someone with a budget and a dashboard, checking it, and choosing not to switch it off. That is a harder test than any award. The full case is in why days-running beats every other performance proxy.

The workflow

In Clone Studio this runs on one screen, split down the middle. Their ad on the left, yours on the right, one button between them.

1. Add the competitor. Their full active library loads, every ad they are running, not a sample.

2. Sort by longest running. That is the default. The ad at the top is the one they will not turn off. You can also search their headline and body copy for a particular offer, filter to video or image, or narrow by UGC, Studio, Animation, or Testimonial.

3. Press Clone and pick your product. The rebuild happens around what you sell, using your saved product photos if you have them.

4. For video, read the script. The AI watches their ad, works out why it is built the way it is, and writes yours scene by scene: timing, voiceover line, on-screen action. Every line is editable. Nothing renders and nothing is charged until you press Start clone. This step is free even with zero credits.

5. Render. About five minutes, vertical 9:16 with audio, length matched to the source and capped at 30 seconds.

Image ads skip step 4 and finish in about a minute, in the original's shape.

Pricing

Video is charged by finished length:

  • 1 credit is roughly 2 seconds
  • 1 credit is $1
  • Minimum 5 credits
  • Credits do not expire

So $5 for a 10 second ad, $15 for a 30 second one. Analysis failures are never charged and failed renders refund automatically.

Free accounts get the full libraries, complete editable scripts, and one image clone, with no card.

Getting it into Ads Manager

Clone Studio makes the creative and stops there. There is no launch button on the page in this version. You download the file and upload it, or you launch through chat, which is covered end to end in clone a competitor's ad and launch it.

On launching from chat, the honest state of things: Google Search, Performance Max, and TikTok launches are generally available, and Meta execution is still in beta. Most people run Meta through Ads Manager or Meta's own tooling and use us for the research and the creative. The connection setup is in connecting Meta Ads to Claude.

Two limits worth knowing up front

Output is vertical 9:16 at 480p. That fits Reels, Stories and Shorts. There is no square or landscape cut, so if your plan leans on feed placements, this covers part of your needs rather than all of them.

And the clone takes structure, never assets. Their hook shape, pacing and offer framing carry over. Their footage, copy and branding do not, by design. The boundary is set out in cloning a competitor's ad ethically.

FAQ

Can a Facebook ad generator use my competitor's ads?

It can use them as the structural starting point, which is what Clone Studio does: it reads a competitor's proven ad and rebuilds that structure around your product. It does not reuse their footage, copy, or branding.

How do I find which Facebook ad of theirs is working?

Sort their active library by how long each ad has been running. Meta publishes no performance data for other advertisers, but run time is visible, and advertisers do not keep paying for ads that lose.

What does it cost to generate a Facebook video ad?

By length: 1 credit is about 2 seconds of finished ad, 1 credit is $1, with a 5 credit minimum. Roughly $5 to $15 depending on the ad. The script is free before you commit.

Can I edit what the AI writes?

Yes, line by line, before anything renders or charges. Voiceover lines, visual directions, the end card headline, and the call to action are all editable.

Can I launch the ad from here?

Not from Clone Studio itself in this version. You download the asset, or launch through chat, where Google and TikTok are generally available and Meta is in beta.

Pick the ad that has been following you

Every founder has a competitor whose ad they have seen forty times. That repetition is the whole signal, and it is free to act on.

Open Clone Studio, add that brand, sort by longest running, and clone the top one. Reading the script costs nothing and takes about two minutes.

You are not guessing what works on Facebook. You are choosing not to look.
