Ask Gemini to run your Meta ads today and you get a polite no. We tried it this week with a plain question from a store owner, and the answer began: "I cannot directly execute, launch, or publish live Meta ads from inside this chat." It then offered to write the copy and walk you through Ads Manager by hand.
That gap is now closed. You can run ads from Gemini by connecting AdWhispr, which gives Gemini the two things it is missing: a live view of what your competitors are advertising, and the ability to create campaigns in your own ad accounts.
There are two ways in, depending on which Gemini you use.
Option 1: the Gemini app (web and phone)
Gemini lets you add your own app under Connected Apps. It takes about a minute.
- On a computer, open gemini.google.com and go to Settings & help, then Connected Apps.
- Under Custom apps, choose "Add a custom app" and paste this link:
https://adwhispr.com/api/mcp - Gemini opens the AdWhispr sign-in. Create a free account or sign in, then click Allow.
- Start a Spark task and ask about any brand's ads.
Once it is connected on the web, it also works in the Gemini mobile app.
One honest limit: Google currently offers custom apps to personal Google accounts in the US that have Gemini Spark. Work and school accounts cannot add one yet. The full walkthrough is on the Gemini setup page.
Option 2: Gemini CLI and Antigravity
If you work in the terminal, there is an AdWhispr extension. One command installs it:
gemini extensions install https://github.com/adwhispr/adwhispr-gemini-extension
Start Gemini CLI and run /adwhispr:setup. Your browser opens once for the sign-in. There is no API key to copy.
The extension adds five shortcuts:
/adwhispr:setupsaves your brand and checks which ad accounts are connected/adwhispr:competitorsfinds the brands in your niche that are advertising right now/adwhispr:winning-adsshows a brand's longest-running ads/adwhispr:wasted-spendaudits your own ad account/adwhispr:launchplans and creates a paused campaign
On Antigravity CLI, install it in Gemini CLI first, then run agy plugin import gemini. The source is public on GitHub, and the step-by-step is on the Gemini CLI setup page.
What you can ask once it is connected
Start with research. It needs no ad account at all.
Who are my competitors and what are their best ads? My site is yourstore.com
Gemini comes back with the brands that are verified to be running ads right now, not a list guessed from memory. Then go one level deeper:
Show me the longest-running ads for [competitor]. What do they have in common?
How long an ad has been running is the signal that matters here. Nobody keeps paying for an ad that loses money, so an ad that has been live for months is the market telling you what works. Public ad libraries do not publish click or sales numbers for other people's ads, so we never show any. Here is why.
When you find a winner, make it yours:
Turn that ad into one for my brand, then set it up on Meta at $30 a day.
To launch, AdWhispr hands you a link to connect your ad account in your own browser. You never paste a password or a key into the chat. Campaigns can go to Meta, Google, TikTok, X and ChatGPT Ads.
Two things that keep this safe
Every campaign is created paused. Gemini shows you the plan, you say yes, and the campaign appears in your ad account switched off. Nothing spends until you turn it on.
Your own numbers come from your own account. When you ask how your campaigns are doing or where money is being wasted, the answer is read from the ad account you connected.
Which option should you pick
- You use Gemini on your phone or in the browser and have a US personal account with Spark: the Gemini app.
- You live in the terminal, or you are on Antigravity: the CLI extension.
- You are outside the US or on a work account: use the CLI extension, or the same AdWhispr account in ChatGPT or Claude until Google widens access.
The free plan includes 15 agent calls a month, which is enough to find your competitors and see what they are running. Every setup guide is on the integrations page.
