12 Prompts That Take You from Competitor Research to a Live Campaign

12 copy-pasteable AI prompts for the full ad loop: research competitor winners, clone the best creative, launch on Google or TikTok, and manage by chat.

Prompt libraries are usually padding. This one isn't: these are 12 prompts that take you from competitor research to a live campaign, in order, using the AdWhispr MCP server inside Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, or Cursor. Each prompt is copy-pasteable, each one fires real tools, and by prompt 9 you have a live campaign running.

Prerequisite: the AdWhispr connector set up in your assistant (Claude walkthrough, ChatGPT walkthrough), and — for the launch stage — an ad account connected via connect_ad_account. Free tier gets you 5 tool calls a month to test the water; Pro ($39/mo, 3-day trial) makes research calls unlimited.

Stage 1 — Research: find what's already working

1. Find a competitor's proven winners

Add [competitor] and show me their longest-running active ads.
For the top 3, break down the hook, format, tone, and offer.

Fires add_brand (or search_brands if they're already tracked), then get_brand_ads sorted by longevity. Days-running is the honest performance proxy — brands don't keep paying for losing ads, and AdWhispr tracks it from daily snapshots. At the time of writing, 74,000+ of the ~194,000 tracked ads have run 100+ days; here's why that signal beats invented ROAS scores.

2. Compare brands and find the gap

Compare [competitor A], [competitor B], and [competitor C].
Where do their strategies overlap, and what angle is nobody running?

compare_brands produces a side-by-side strategy diff — format mix, hook patterns, offers, iteration rate. The overlap tells you the category's table stakes; the empty space is your opening.

3. Pull competitor keyword intel

What Google keywords is [competitor] bidding on, and which
high-intent ones am I not covering?

research_competitor_keywords (plus research_keywords for your own seed terms) surfaces search intent conversationally — no Keyword Planner tabs, no CSV exports. We wrote a full deep-dive on competitor keyword research with an AI assistant, because this output feeds directly into prompts 7 and 8.

Stage 2 — Creative: clone the winner for your brand

4. Clone an image ad

Clone [competitor]'s longest-running image ad for my brand.
Keep the structure, swap in my product and brand voice.

clone_ad generates original creative grounded in the proven winner — the structure that survived the market, rebuilt in your identity. Never a copy; always cited back to the source ad. (The ethics and mechanics of cloning get their own post.)

5. Clone a video ad

Clone their top video ad — give me the version for my brand.

Same tool, video mode. You get creative built from the winning ad's skeleton: what it opens with, how it sequences the pitch, where the offer lands.

6. Clone a TikTok ad

Find the best-performing TikTok ads in my niche and clone
the strongest one for my brand.

research_tiktok_ads handles the discovery, clone_tiktok_ad the creative. TikTok-native structure matters — a cloned Meta ad dropped onto TikTok reads as an ad; a cloned TikTok ad reads as content.

Clones accumulate in your library — prompt "show me my creatives" fires list_my_creatives whenever you need to retrieve one. Pro includes 10 clones/month; credit packs (10/$19, 30/$39, 100/$99) cover sprints.

Stage 3 — Launch: put it live

7. Launch a Google Search campaign

Launch a Google Search campaign for [my product] at $40/day,
using the keyword list we built from [competitor].

launch_search_campaign — generally available — builds the campaign from the research already in the conversation. The keyword intel from prompt 3 doesn't get exported and re-imported; it's already in context.

8. Launch a Performance Max campaign

Launch a Performance Max campaign with the image clone from
earlier, $60/day, goal: purchases.

launch_pmax_campaign (also GA) takes your cloned creative and launches Google's full-inventory format. Creative from stage 2, keywords from stage 1, live campaign out.

9. Launch a clone on TikTok

Take the TikTok clone we made and launch it at $50/day.

launch_cloned_ad is the shortest research-to-live path in the toolset — it launches a clone directly. Behind it, launch_tiktok_campaign (GA, full video-ad builder) handles TikTok campaigns from scratch too. This prompt is the whole product in one line; the one-prompt version of the entire loop compresses prompts 1, 4, and 9 into a single message.

Stage 4 — Manage: run it by chat

10. Check performance

How did my campaigns do this week? Anything I should worry about?

get_account_performance plus list_campaigns. Because the same assistant launched these campaigns, it knows what each one was cloned from and why it exists — the answer comes with context, not just numbers.

11. Move budget

Shift the Search campaign to $60/day and drop PMax to $30/day.

update_budget, twice. No navigating three screens per campaign; state both changes in one sentence.

12. Pause the loser

Pause the TikTok campaign for now — we'll revisit Monday.

pause_campaign now, resume_campaign when Monday comes. And when something gets paused, the natural next message is "what should I run instead?" — which drops you back at prompt 1, in the same thread, with all the context intact.

Why this works as a loop

Stage Prompts Tools
Research 1–3 add_brand, get_brand_ads, compare_brands, research_competitor_keywords
Creative 4–6 clone_ad, clone_tiktok_ad, research_tiktok_ads
Launch 7–9 launch_search_campaign, launch_pmax_campaign, launch_cloned_ad
Manage 10–12 get_account_performance, update_budget, pause_campaign

The old version of this workflow was five tools and a spreadsheet: spy tool for research, screenshots into a brief, a creative tool, Ads Manager for launch, a dashboard for monitoring. Every handoff lost context. Here, the research that justified the campaign lives in the same conversation as the button that pauses it.

Execution-only chat tools give you stages 3 and 4 with no stage 1 or 2 — you bring the strategy and creative yourself. Research-only spy tools give you stage 1 and stop. The full argument for owning the whole loop is in AdWhispr vs Adspirer.
