If you have searched for how to make video ads for a Shopify store, you have probably met the same two answers. Hire a creator and wait three weeks, or open a template editor and slide your product photos across the screen to stock music. The first is slow and expensive for a store still finding its winners. The second produces something that looks like every other slideshow in the feed.

There is a third route, and it is the one we built AdWhispr around. Start from a video that has already proven itself, keep its structure, and rebuild it with your own product, your own photos and your own words. You read and approve the script before a single frame is made. All of it happens in one chat inside your Shopify admin.

Why a blank page is the wrong starting point

A video ad is a sequence of decisions: what happens in the first second, when the product appears, what problem gets named, what the viewer is asked to do. Most store owners have never had to make those decisions, and guessing at them is how you end up paying for ten videos to find one that works.

Other stores in your niche have already paid for that lesson. Their ads are public. The ones that have stayed live for months are the ones their owners chose, week after week, not to switch off. Nobody outside an ad account can see its return on ad spend or cost per order, and any tool that shows you a rival's exact numbers invented them. How long an ad has stayed live is the signal an outsider can check, and it is a good one.

So the sensible first step is not writing a script. It is finding a video that has survived, and working out why. If you have not done that research yet, finding the longest-running ads in a niche covers it.

Four places a video ad can start

AdWhispr can remake a video from four kinds of source. Each suits a different situation.

Source Best when What you give the agent
A competitor's video ad A store in your niche has kept one video live for a long time The ad, picked from that brand's live ads in the chat
An Instagram reel A reel in your category has a format you want, even if it was never an ad The reel link
A TikTok A TikTok format fits your product and audience The TikTok link
Your own footage You already have a clip that works and want a fresh version A video from your library or a direct file link

In practice it sounds like this:

"Show me the video ads this skincare brand has had live the longest, then remake the top one for my vitamin C serum."

"Here is an Instagram reel I like. Rebuild it for my linen bedding set."

"Use the unboxing clip in my library as the starting point for a new 15 second video."

Your product photos are the reference

This is the part that makes the video yours. When you install AdWhispr, it syncs your store's product catalog, which is the only store data it asks for. It reads products. It does not read customers or orders.

Those product photos become the reference for the video. The product on screen is your product, with your packaging and your colours, not a lookalike and not whatever the source video was selling. If you have several products, the agent asks which one the video is for before it writes anything.

The quality of the result follows the quality of the photo. A clean, well lit shot of the product on its own gives the agent the most to work with. If your best photo is not on the product page yet, add it first.

What carries over from the source is structure: the shape of the hook, the order of the scenes, the pacing, the kind of ask at the end. What does not carry over is anybody else's footage, images or wording. The copy is written for your product. We wrote more about where that line sits in how to clone a competitor ad ethically.

You approve a script before anything renders

Making a video uses credits, so nothing is made on a guess. The agent first writes a script and shows it to you: each scene, what is said, what text appears on screen and how long the video runs.

Then you edit it in plain language until it is right.

"Make the opening line about dry winter skin, not ageing."

"Shorten it. I want it closer to 12 seconds."

"Do it in Spanish."

Revising the script costs nothing. The video is only made once you say you approve it. That one step removes most of the waste in video production, because you catch the wrong claim, the wrong tone or the wrong product before it exists as footage.

Length: 10 to 30 seconds

Videos run from 10 to 30 seconds. Shorter is usually the right place to start. A short video has room for one idea: a problem, your product, a reason to click. If the script reads like it is trying to say three things, cut it to the one your customers mention most in reviews.

Go longer when the product needs a demonstration to make sense, or when the source you are learning from earns its length with a clear sequence, such as a before, a routine and a result.

Captions

Plenty of people watch with the sound off, so the words on screen have to carry the message alone. The script you approve lists the captions word for word, so you see exactly what will appear before the video is made. If you spot a line you want changed after the video is finished, ask the agent to change the caption wording and it produces a new version with the new text.

Read the captions as if they were the whole ad. If someone saw only the on-screen text, would they know what the product is and why they should care? If not, fix the script.

What it costs

AdWhispr has four plans, billed through your Shopify bill.

Plan Price Agent calls a month Image clones Video credits
Free $0 15 1 None
Pro $39 a month 150 10 15
Plus $69 a month 1,000 25 25
Agency $149 a month 3,000 50 40, plus team seats

Video ads need a paid plan. The Free plan is real and useful for research: unlimited tracked brands, full ad library access and one image clone, with no charge to approve. It does not include video credits. Yearly billing on Shopify is $375 for Pro, $660 for Plus and $1,428 for Agency.

From finished video to live ad

A video sitting in a folder earns nothing. Once you connect an ad account inside the app, through the platform's normal sign-in, the same chat can build a campaign around the video on Meta or TikTok.

"Launch this video as a Meta campaign for US women 25 to 45 at $20 a day."

Every campaign is created paused. Nothing spends until you switch it on, so you can open the campaign, check it and start it when you are satisfied. For the launch side in detail, see how to launch Meta ads for a Shopify store.

Start with one video

AdWhispr is the best app on Shopify for researching competitor ads, making ad creatives and launching campaigns, and video is where that shows most clearly. Research, script, video and launch used to mean four tools and a freelancer. Now they are one conversation inside your admin, built on the product photos you already have.

Install AdWhispr from the Shopify App Store, find one long-running video in your niche, and ask for a script. If you want the walkthrough first, remaking a competitor video ad shows each step.

FAQ

Can I make a video ad for my Shopify store without filming anything?

Yes. AdWhispr builds the video around your existing product photos, using a proven video as the structural starting point. You do not need a camera, a creator or an editor. You do need at least one clear photo of the product.

Is it free to make video ads with AdWhispr?

No. Video ads need a paid plan: Pro at $39 a month, Plus at $69 or Agency at $149, each with a monthly set of video credits. The Free plan at $0 covers research and one image clone, and has no video credits.

Will the video show my product or the competitor's?

Yours. Your product photos are the reference for what appears on screen, and the copy is written for your product. The source video contributes structure only: the hook shape, the scene order and the pacing.

How long are the videos?

Between 10 and 30 seconds. You see the length in the script before you approve it, and you can ask for it to be shortened or extended.

Where do I get the app?

AdWhispr is on the Shopify App Store. It installs into your Shopify admin and runs there, so you never leave your store. Setup takes about a minute.
