AdWhispr can build and launch campaigns on Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google (Search and Performance Max), TikTok, X and ChatGPT Ads, all from the chat inside your Shopify admin. Before it can do that on a platform, you connect your ad account there once.
This guide covers how connecting works, what you are granting, how to take that access away, and what to check if the wrong account ends up selected.
If you have not installed the app yet, start with how to install AdWhispr on your Shopify store. You can get it from the Shopify App Store.
You do not need to connect anything to start
Connecting is optional. Competitor research and creative work without it: you can find the brands advertising in your niche, read their live ads, and remake a proven one with your own product photos before any ad account is involved.
You connect an ad account when you want one of two things on that platform: campaigns launched for you, or your own results read back to you so the agent can tell you what is working.
How connecting works, on every platform
The flow is the same shape everywhere.
- You ask the agent to connect a platform. In plain words, inside the app.
- It gives you a secure link. The link opens that platform's own sign-in page.
- You sign in on the platform's page. Your password goes to Meta, Google, TikTok or X directly. It is never typed into the chat, and AdWhispr never sees it.
- The platform shows you what it is about to grant. Read that screen. It is the platform's own list of the access being requested.
- You accept, and you are back in the app. The agent can now see the ad accounts that login can reach.
"Connect my Meta ad account."
"I want to launch on Google and TikTok. Help me connect both."
Platform by platform
| Platform | How you connect | What AdWhispr can then do |
|---|---|---|
| Meta (Facebook and Instagram) | Sign in on Meta's own page | Build and launch campaigns, read performance, pause, resume, change budgets |
| Sign in on Google's own page | Build and launch Search and Performance Max campaigns, read performance, pause, resume, change budgets | |
| TikTok | Sign in on TikTok's own page | Build and launch campaigns, read performance, pause, resume, change budgets |
| X | Sign in on X's own page | Build and launch campaigns, read performance, pause, resume, change budgets |
| ChatGPT Ads | Paste your Ads API key on a secure page | Build and launch campaigns, read performance, pause, resume, change budgets |
Meta. One sign-in covers Facebook and Instagram, since both are run from the same Meta ad account. Sign in with the profile that has access to the ad account and the Facebook page your store advertises from.
Google. Sign in with the Google account that can open your Google Ads account. There is a dedicated guide in connect your Google Ads account.
TikTok. Sign in with the login for your TikTok ads account. See connect your TikTok Ads account for the details.
X. Sign in with the X handle your ads run from.
ChatGPT Ads. This one works differently. There is no sign-in handoff. You create an Ads API key in your ChatGPT Ads account and paste it on a secure page that the agent links you to. Never paste the key into the chat itself. If you are new to the channel, how to advertise on ChatGPT explains the ad unit and the account setup.
A practical point that applies everywhere: the ad account has to exist and be in good standing on the platform before a campaign can run there. Billing for ad spend is set up with the platform, in its own ads account, and the platform charges you for that spend directly. AdWhispr's plan on your Shopify bill covers the app, not your media budget.
What access you are granting
In plain terms, you are letting AdWhispr manage ads in the accounts you connect. That means four things:
- Build and launch campaigns when you ask.
- Read the account's performance so it can report back to you.
- Pause and resume campaigns when you ask.
- Change budgets when you ask.
The exact permissions are listed on each platform's own consent screen at the moment you connect, and that screen is the authority on what is being granted.
This is separate from your store. On the Shopify side the app only needs permission to read your products. It does not read your customers or your orders, and connecting an ad account does not change that.
Every campaign is created paused
This is the safeguard that matters most. Every campaign AdWhispr builds is created paused, so nothing spends until you switch it on.
That gives you a natural checkpoint. Ask for the campaign, look at what was built, and turn it on when you are happy.
"Build a Meta campaign for my best-selling product at $25 a day and leave it paused."
"That looks right. Switch it on."
For a full example on one platform, see launch a Meta ad from chat. If a campaign is switched on and still not delivering, why your campaign is not spending lists the usual causes.
How to remove access
You are never locked in. Access can be taken away from the platform side at any time, without asking us.
For Meta, Google, TikTok and X, each platform keeps a list of the apps you have granted access to in its own account or business settings. Remove AdWhispr from that list and the connection stops working. For ChatGPT Ads, delete or replace the API key in your ChatGPT Ads account and the old key stops working.
Removing access does not delete campaigns that already exist. They stay in your ad account, in whatever state you left them, and you manage them from the platform as usual.
If the wrong account is selected
This is the most common snag, and it almost always has one of three causes. One login often reaches several ad accounts: an old personal one, a client's, a second store. Check these in order.
1. Ask which account is connected.
"Which ad accounts do you have access to on Meta, and which one are you using?"
The agent lists the accounts it can see. If the right one is on the list, tell it to use that one.
"Use the account for my store, not the personal one."
2. Check which login you used. If the account you want is not on the list at all, you probably signed in as the wrong person. Browsers often stay signed in to a personal profile. Sign out of the platform in your browser, then ask the agent to connect again and sign in with the login that owns the store's ad account.
3. Check your role on the account. If you signed in correctly and the account is still missing, your login may not have enough permission on it. Ask whoever owns the ad account to give your login access to manage ads, then connect again.
Before you switch on any campaign, it is worth one sentence to confirm where it was built:
"Which ad account and which page is this campaign in?"
Because campaigns are created paused, a campaign built in the wrong account costs you nothing. Ask for it to be built in the right one.
Connect one platform and launch a paused campaign
Start with the platform where your customers already are. Connect it, ask for a paused campaign built from a creative you have made, and look it over before you turn anything on.
Research, creative and launch now sit in one chat inside your admin, which is why we call this the biggest moment yet for Shopify stores that advertise. If you have not installed it yet, get AdWhispr on the Shopify App Store and connect your first ad account in a couple of minutes.
FAQ
Which ad platforms can I connect from inside Shopify?
Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google (Search and Performance Max), TikTok, X and ChatGPT Ads. Each is connected once, from inside the AdWhispr app in your Shopify admin.
Does AdWhispr see my ad platform password?
No. You sign in on the platform's own page, so your password goes to the platform directly. ChatGPT Ads uses an Ads API key instead of a sign-in, and you paste that key on a secure page, never in the chat.
Will connecting an ad account start spending money?
No. Connecting only gives AdWhispr the ability to act when you ask. Every campaign it builds is created paused, so nothing spends until you switch it on.
How do I disconnect AdWhispr from an ad account?
Remove it from the list of connected apps in that platform's own settings. For ChatGPT Ads, delete the API key in your ChatGPT Ads account. Campaigns that already exist stay in your ad account.
Do I need a paid AdWhispr plan to connect ad accounts?
No. Connecting is available on all four plans: Free at $0, Pro at $39 a month, Plus at $69 a month and Agency at $149 a month. Each plan has a monthly number of agent calls, 15 on Free, 150 on Pro, 1,000 on Plus and 3,000 on Agency, and those are what you use when you ask the agent to do things.
The agent picked the wrong ad account. What do I do?
Ask it which accounts it can access and tell it which one to use. If the right account is not on the list, sign out of the platform in your browser, connect again with the correct login, and check that login has permission to manage ads on the account.
