Installing AdWhispr on a Shopify store takes about a minute, and most of that minute is the app doing work for you. This walkthrough covers where to find it, what each setup screen is doing, and the first few things worth asking once you are in.

If you want the overview of what the app is before you install, start with AdWhispr is now on the Shopify App Store.

Before you start

You need two things: a Shopify store with at least one product in it, and a login that is allowed to install apps on that store.

You do not need an ad account, a credit card or any ads experience. Research and creative work without connecting anything. Ad accounts only matter later, when you want campaigns launched.

One note for existing users. If you already use AdWhispr on the website, in Claude or in ChatGPT, installing the app starts a fresh account for the store. You can link the store to your existing account from a card inside the app once it is installed. Read how to link your Shopify store to your AdWhispr account before you choose a paid plan in Shopify.

Step 1: Find AdWhispr on the Shopify App Store

Open the AdWhispr listing on the Shopify App Store, or search the App Store for AdWhispr from your Shopify admin.

Step 2: Install it

Choose to install from the listing. Shopify shows you what the app is asking for before anything is added to your store.

AdWhispr only needs permission to read your products. It does not read your customers or your orders. Confirm, and the app opens inside your Shopify admin. It runs there as an embedded app, so from here on you never leave your store to use it.

Step 3: Let setup run

This is the part that takes about a minute. Here is what each stage is for.

Setup stage What it does Why it matters
Catalog sync Reads your products from the store The agent knows what you sell, your prices and your product photos
Brand profile Builds a profile of your brand from your store Copy and creatives are written for your shop, not a generic one
Competitors found Finds brands in your space that are advertising right now Your first search starts with real advertisers to study
Pick a plan You choose Free or a paid plan Free adds no charge to your Shopify bill
Connect ad accounts Optional: link the platforms you advertise on Needed only when you want campaigns launched or managed

A few details on each.

Catalog sync. Nothing for you to do. If you add products later, the agent can work with those too.

Brand profile. Read what it produced. It is built from your store, so it is usually close, but you know your brand better than any profile does. If something is off, tell the agent in plain words and it will correct it.

"My brand voice is warmer than that. We sell to new parents, and we never use hype words."

Competitors found. These are brands advertising right now, which is the useful kind of competitor. A rival who is not running ads has nothing to teach you about ads. If a brand you care about is missing, just name it and ask the agent to add it.

Pick a plan. There are four, billed through your Shopify bill:

  • Free, $0: 15 agent calls a month, 1 free image clone, unlimited tracked brands and full ad library access. No video credits.
  • Pro, $39 a month: 150 agent calls, 10 image clones and 15 video credits.
  • Plus, $69 a month: 1,000 agent calls, 25 image clones and 25 video credits.
  • Agency, $149 a month: 3,000 agent calls, 50 image clones, 40 video credits and team seats.

Yearly billing on Shopify is $375 for Pro, $660 for Plus and $1,428 for Agency. Free is the sensible place to start if you only want to see what your competitors are running. Video ads need a paid plan.

Connect ad accounts. You can skip this for now. When you are ready, connecting your ad accounts from inside Shopify covers every platform.

Setup has already handed you a list of advertisers. Now ask about them. These four questions, in this order, get most stores to something useful in about ten minutes.

1. See who is advertising.

"Who is running ads in my niche right now?"

You get brands with live ads. Pick one or two that sell to the same customer you do.

2. Open one competitor fully.

"Show me every ad this brand has live on Facebook and Instagram."

This is the full picture of what they are putting money behind today: images, videos, copy and where each ad sends the click.

3. Sort by what has lasted.

"Which of their ads have been running the longest, and what do the top five have in common?"

This is the question that matters. Nobody outside an ad account can see a competitor's return on ad spend, cost per purchase or click through rate, and a tool that shows you those numbers for a rival made them up. What you can see is how long an ad has stayed live. Brands switch off ads that stop paying and keep the ones that work, so the oldest ads still running are the proven ones. There is a full guide to this in find the longest-running ads in a niche.

4. Keep watching.

"Track this brand and tell me when they launch new ads."

Tracked brands are unlimited on every plan, including Free, so track every competitor worth learning from.

If you want a longer version of this loop, your first competitor research run walks through it end to end.

What to do with what you find

Once you have a long-running ad you like, you have two natural next moves.

Make your own version. Ask the agent to remake the ad for one of your products. It keeps the structure that made the ad last and builds the rest from your product photos and your copy. You are borrowing a shape that works, never someone else's images or text. The Free plan includes one image clone, which is enough to see the result on your own product.

"Remake their longest-running ad for my top product. Use my photos and write fresh copy in my brand voice."

Then launch it. With an ad account connected, ask for a campaign. AdWhispr builds campaigns on Meta, Google, TikTok, X and ChatGPT Ads, and every campaign is created paused, so nothing spends until you switch it on.

Common questions during install

The competitor list is not quite right. That is normal for stores in a narrow niche or with a broad catalog. Tell the agent which product line matters most and name one brand you consider a true rival. The list sharpens quickly from there.

I am not sure which plan I need. Start on Free. Fifteen agent calls a month is enough for a real research session, and you will know after one sitting whether you want creatives and launches at volume.

I want to stop. Uninstalling the app cancels the Shopify subscription.

Install it now

It is about a minute from the listing to a list of brands advertising against you. Install AdWhispr from the Shopify App Store, let setup run, and ask the four questions above. AdWhispr is the best app on Shopify for researching competitor ads, making ad creatives and launching campaigns, and the quickest way to see why is to point it at your own niche.

FAQ

How long does it take to install AdWhispr on Shopify?

About a minute. In that time the app syncs your product catalog, builds a brand profile from your store and finds competitors that are advertising right now. After that you pick a plan and, if you want, connect ad accounts.

What permissions does AdWhispr need on my store?

Only permission to read your products. It does not read your customers or your orders.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. Free is $0 and includes 15 agent calls a month, 1 free image clone, unlimited tracked brands and full ad library access. It does not include video credits. The paid plans are Pro at $39 a month, Plus at $69 a month and Agency at $149 a month, all billed through your Shopify bill.

Do I need to connect an ad account during install?

No. Connecting ad accounts is optional and can be done at any time. You only need it when you want AdWhispr to launch or manage campaigns. Competitor research and creative work without it.

What should I ask the agent first?

Ask who is running ads in your niche right now, then ask to see every live ad from one of those brands, then ask which have run the longest. That sequence gets you from an empty screen to a shortlist of proven ad structures in about ten minutes.

Can I see how well a competitor's ads perform?

Not their private numbers. Return on ad spend, cost per purchase and click through rate exist only inside the advertiser's own ad account. How long an ad has stayed live is the signal you can check from outside, and it is the one AdWhispr sorts by.
