Use this when

You are shaping who a campaign should reach and want to see the real targeting options and how much demand sits behind them, before you commit a budget. It answers who we should target, and whether that audience is big enough to matter, with the platform's own targeting data rather than a guess.

Reach for it before a Meta or Google campaign launch, when you are entering a new market, or when an existing audience feels too broad or too narrow and you want to resize it against real demand.

What you need

  • The brief: the product, the market, and the kind of customer you are trying to reach.
  • The platform you are planning for, Meta or Google, since targeting options differ between them.
  • AdWhispr connected to your AI client. The box at the top of this page has the one-time setup. The research is read-only and needs no ad account. A connected account is only required to save an audience later.

How it runs

  1. Confirm the brief: product, market, platform, and the customer you want to reach.
  2. Search the targeting options that fit the brief: interests, demographics, behaviors, and the audience types the platform supports.
  3. Report the sizing the way the platform returns it, so you can see whether an audience is large enough to spend against or too narrow to leave.
  4. Group the options by the intent and the segment they represent, so the shortlist is organized by who the person is, not just by option name.
  5. Recommend an audience shaped to real demand: broad enough to deliver, tight enough to stay relevant, with the options that overlap or conflict flagged.

What the skill checks

  • Audience size and reach figures are quoted the way the platform returns them, with the estimate caveat kept intact, never as guaranteed reach or conversions.
  • Targeting options are grouped by intent and segment, so a large audience with the wrong intent is not recommended just because it is big.
  • Overlap and conflict between options are flagged, so a stacked audience does not quietly shrink to almost nobody.

When it stops

  • Done: a targeting brief with grouped options, sizing quoted with the caveat, and a recommended audience shaped to demand.
  • Partial: the brief is too vague to size well, so options are returned with a note on what to narrow before an audience can be recommended.
  • Blocked: the market or platform cannot be resolved, or no targeting data returns for the brief, reported as a finding.

What it will and won't do

Read only. This skill researches targeting options and recommends an audience. It does not save an audience, change targeting on a live campaign, or spend. Actually creating a saved audience is a separate step that pauses for your explicit approval before anything is written to your account.

What you get

A targeting brief: the options that fit your brief grouped by segment, sizing quoted with the platform's caveat, the overlaps and conflicts to watch, and one recommended audience shaped to real demand. Ready to save as an audience in a separate, approved step when you want to build the campaign.

FAQ

How do I research ad targeting options?

Start from the brief, the product, the market, and the customer, then pull the interests, demographics, behaviors, and audience types the platform actually supports for that brief. This skill returns those options grouped by segment, with sizing quoted the way the platform reports it, so a directional estimate is never treated as guaranteed reach.

How big should my target audience be?

Big enough to deliver on your budget and tight enough to stay relevant, which depends on the platform and the spend. The skill shows the size the platform reports for each option and flags where stacking filters shrinks the audience too far, so you can resize against real demand instead of guessing.

Does this create the audience for me?

No. The research and the recommendation are read-only. Saving an audience to your account is a separate step that pauses for your explicit approval before anything is written.

Which platforms does it cover?

Meta and Google. The targeting options and sizing differ between them, so you confirm the platform up front and the brief is built against that platform's real options.
