Use this when

You are about to build a Google Search or Performance Max campaign and need a real keyword set to start from, not a blank sheet or a scattered list pulled from memory. This skill sits between competitor research and campaign launch: once you know the terms that matter in your category, it turns them into a structured universe you can hand straight to a campaign.

Reach for it whenever someone asks what keywords we should bid on, when you are opening a new product line, or when an existing account has grown into an unstructured pile of terms that needs regrouping by intent.

What you need

  • The product or service you want to advertise, described in plain language, plus the market and language you are targeting.
  • A seed term or two, or a competitor domain, to anchor the research. The more specific the seed, the tighter the universe.
  • AdWhispr connected to your AI client. The box at the top of this page has the one-time setup. A connected Google Ads account is optional here and sharpens the read against what you already run, but the research itself is read-only and needs no account.

How it runs

  1. Confirm the product, the market, and the language, so volume figures are pulled for the right geography.
  2. Research keywords from your seed terms and expand into the related terms real searchers use, quoting volume and competition the way the data source returns them.
  3. Group every term by search intent: transactional, commercial, informational, and navigational, so a big informational term is never mistaken for a buying term.
  4. Assign a starting match type per group, tighter for high-intent money terms, broader where you want discovery.
  5. Surface the negative keywords implied by the mismatched terms that showed up, so wasted spend is fenced off before launch.
  6. Return the grouped universe, ready to drop into a Search campaign.

What the skill checks

  • Volume and competition figures are quoted the way the data source returns them, with the estimate caveat kept intact. They are never presented as exact traffic or guaranteed clicks.
  • Intent grouping is explicit, so a high-volume term with the wrong intent is not recommended just because it is big.
  • Match-type suggestions follow the intent of each group, not a single blanket setting across the account.
  • The starter negative list is derived from terms that actually surfaced, not a generic boilerplate list.

When it stops

  • Done: a keyword universe grouped by intent, with match types and a starter negative list, ready for a Search campaign.
  • Partial: a thin or ambiguous seed returns few terms, so the universe is returned with a note on where it needs a better seed or a competitor domain to expand.
  • Blocked: the market or language cannot be resolved, or the data source returns nothing for the seed, reported as a finding rather than an error.

What it will and won't do

Read only. This skill researches and structures keywords and returns a plan. It never adds a keyword to a live campaign, changes a bid, or spends. Applying the universe to an account is a separate step in the launch skills that pauses for your explicit approval.

What you get

A ready-to-use keyword universe: every term grouped by searcher intent, a suggested match type per group, volume and competition quoted with the source's caveat, and a starter negative keyword list to cut waste before the first click. Where a Google account is connected, a note on which terms you already cover and which are new.

FAQ

How do I do keyword research for Google Ads?

Start from a seed term or a competitor domain, pull the related terms real searchers use, and group them by what the searcher intends rather than by raw volume. This skill does that in one pass and returns the terms with volume and competition quoted the way the data source reports them, so a directional figure is never dressed up as an exact number.

What is a keyword universe?

The full, organized set of terms worth considering for a campaign, sorted into intent groups with a match type on each. It is the difference between a random keyword dump and a structure you can launch from, because the grouping tells you where to spend hard and where to explore.

Do I need a Google Ads account to build the list?

No. The research and grouping are read-only and need no account. A connected account only adds a check of which terms you already run, and is required later when you want to apply the universe to a live campaign.

Will it change my campaigns?

No. It is research only. Adding these keywords to a live account is a separate step in the launch skills that pauses for your explicit approval.
