This guide covers the one thing that is different about Grok Bot versus every other assistant: it connects with an agent key instead of a sign-in. Here is why, the exact steps, and a roster of twelve bots you can paste in and run.
Why Grok Bot needs an agent key (and Grok chat doesn't)
Every other client we support, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and Grok's own chat, connects the normal way: you paste our server URL, a browser window opens, you sign in, done. If you want that flow, use Grok chat instead; it is simpler and there is no key involved.
Grok Bot is different because its bots run in the cloud, not on your machine. When you add a custom connector, Grok Bot's form takes only a name, a URL, and a header. There is no sign-in button, because a cloud agent has no browser window to pop open for you. So instead of signing in, you create a long-lived key in AdWhispr and paste it as the header. That key is what tells us the bot is acting on your account.
The key gets the exact same tools and the exact same plan limits as your normal connection. It is not a lesser mode; it is just a different way in for clients that cannot open a sign-in.
Step 1: Create your agent key
In AdWhispr, open Settings, then the Agent keys tab. It is a separate tab on purpose. A long-lived key is a credential you should go looking for, not stumble onto.
- Type a name so you recognise it later, for example

- Copy it now. The key is shown exactly once. It starts with
awk_and it is about 68 characters long.
The panel also gives you two things ready to paste: the server URL, and a full Header line in the form Authorization: Bearer awk_.... Copy the header line; that is what Grok Bot's connector field wants.
Treat the key like a password. Anyone holding it can use your account, spending your plan's agent calls, so do not paste it into a shared doc or a screenshot. If a key ever leaks or you stop using a bot, hit Revoke on that key and it stops working instantly. You can keep up to five live keys, each with its own name and a "last used" stamp, so you can tell at a glance which one a forgotten bot is still using.
Step 2: Add the custom connector in Grok Bot
In Grok Bot, open Settings, then Plugins, then Add custom connector. Fill in three fields:

Save. Connectors in Grok Bot are account-wide, so every bot you have and every bot you make afterward can use AdWhispr without you doing this again.
To confirm it worked, open any bot and ask it to research a competitor. If it comes back with a brand's longest-running ads, you are connected.
Step 3: Connect an ad account (only if you want to launch)
Research and cloning need no ad account. The moment you want a bot to launch or read your own performance, it will hand you a link to connect your Meta, Google, or TikTok account. Open that link in your own browser, sign in to the platform, and approve. This is standard OAuth: AdWhispr gets scoped access to the ad account, never your platform password, and you can revoke it from the platform's connected-apps settings any time.
One thing that never changes: every campaign a bot launches is created paused. Nothing spends until you switch it on. A bot cannot surprise you with live spend.
A bot roster you can paste in
Grok Bot is built for routines that run while you are not looking, which fits ad work better than a chat window does. The safety note
Nothing spends money without an explicit instruction from you. Research tools are read-only. Every launch is created paused. A bot changes a budget or unpauses a campaign only when you told it to, and the roster's enforcing bots are written to start in report-only mode so you can trust them before you turn the actions on. Revoking either the agent key or the ad-account OAuth stops everything immediately.
FAQ
Do I need an agent key for regular Grok chat too?
No. Grok chat opens a normal sign-in, so there is nothing to paste. The key is only for Grok Bot, whose cloud agents cannot open a sign-in window. See the Grok chat setup guide.
Can a Grok Bot really launch campaigns, or just draft them?
Really launch. With an ad account connected, a bot can launch Google, Meta, and TikTok campaigns, change budgets, pause, and resume. Every campaign is created paused and shows you what it built, so nothing spends until you switch it on.
Is the key limited to Grok Bot?
No, and we are honest about that. A key is a bearer credential; any client that can send a header can use it. It only ever unlocks your own account, with your own plan limits, so the risk is the same as any password. Name each key and revoke the ones you are not using.
What happens if I lose the key?
You cannot recover it; it is shown once. Create a new one, paste it into Grok Bot, and revoke the old one. Takes a minute.
Will it tell me a competitor's CTR or ROAS?
No, because it cannot know them. The Meta Ad Library does not expose CTR, CPC, conversions, or ROAS for competitor ads; those live only inside the advertiser's own account. AdWhispr leads with days-running, which public data actually supports. Any tool that quotes a competitor's exact ROAS is guessing.
