Reading performance and cutting wasted spend

How to read your Meta, Google and TikTok results through AdWhispr, find the campaigns and keywords wasting money, and fix them with pauses, budget changes, negatives and bids, each confirmed before it is applied.

Once campaigns run, the work is reading the numbers and moving money away from what does not work. AdWhispr reads your accounts directly, proposes the changes, and applies each one only after you confirm it. This guide follows an agency managing Cloud Linen's Meta account and Riverside Chiropractic's Google account.

Read the account

Ask how the ads are doing. The default window is the last 30 days; give dates for anything else. On Meta you get spend, impressions, clicks and conversions per campaign, and with a pixel, purchases, add-to-carts, leads, cost per purchase and return on ad spend. Google and TikTok return spend, impressions, clicks and conversions.

How are Cloud Linen's Meta ads doing from 2026-08-24 to 2026-09-07?

AdWhispr

Four campaigns, 1,840.00 spent. "Bedding UGC test": 920.00, 61 purchases, cost per purchase 15.08, ROAS 4.1. "Linen sale reminder": 310.00, 24 purchases, 12.92, ROAS 5.3. "Winter preview": 430.00, 3 purchases, 143.33, ROAS 0.4. "Pillow launch": 180.00, 0 purchases. Want me to pause the two that are not paying?

The same numbers are on the Ad Campaigns page in the dashboard, across every connected account.

Find the waste

Three patterns cover most wasted spend:

  • Spend with no results. A campaign that spent and converted nothing, like "Pillow launch" above. Pause it, or if it is new, give it a few more days and a tighter audience.
  • A cost per result far above the others. "Winter preview" buys a purchase at ten times the cost of the test campaign. Cut its budget or pause it, and move the money to the winner.
  • A campaign that is not spending at all. On Google Search this is almost always a keyword problem. Ask why and the chat drills into the campaign.

Why is Riverside's Austin chiro campaign not spending?

AdWhispr

Per-keyword diagnosis: "chiropractor near me" is below the first-page bid (yours 2.00, Google's estimate 5.40). "back pain relief austin" is rarely shown, quality score 4. "free chiropractor" spent 38.00 on searches for free clinics. Suggested: raise the first bid to 5.50, add "free" as a negative, and split the back-pain keywords into their own ad group.

Fix it, one confirmation at a time

Every change that affects spend is previewed, then applied when you say yes.

Pause a campaign: one step, immediate.

You

Pause Pillow launch.

AdWhispr

Paused. It stopped spending now.

Cut or raise a budget. The change lands where the budget lives (the ad set for campaigns launched from AdWhispr).

You

Cut Winter preview to 10 a day and raise Bedding UGC test to 70.

AdWhispr

Preview: Winter preview 30.00 becomes 10.00 a day; Bedding UGC test 50.00 becomes 70.00 a day. Apply both?

Fix Google keywords. Raise a bid that sits below the first-page estimate, pause a keyword that burns money, add negatives for the searches you never want, and split mixed themes into their own ad group with matching headlines.

You

Raise "chiropractor near me" to 5.50, add "free", "jobs" and "salary" as negatives, and move the back-pain keywords into an ad group called "Back pain" with headlines that mention back pain.

AdWhispr

Three previews. Bid: "chiropractor near me" 2.00 becomes 5.50. Negatives: "free", "jobs", "salary" (phrase match; existing negatives: none). New ad group "Back pain" with 2 keywords and a new responsive search ad, then the same 2 keywords paused in "Austin chiro". Apply all three?

Edit copy on a Meta ad without relaunching, when the creative is fine and the words are the problem. See editing an ad's copy.

Move the money to what works

When one creative or campaign clearly wins, scale it in steps (raising a Meta ad set budget by a lot at once resets its learning) and feed the winner into the next creative test. Re-read the account a week later and repeat.

Frequently asked questions

Will the chat pause things on its own?

No. It reads the numbers and proposes changes. Pausing is a single step you ask for; budget, keyword and location changes are previewed and applied only after you confirm.

Why do I not see purchases or ROAS?

The Meta ad account has no pixel, or it has not fired. Purchases, cost per purchase and ROAS come from the pixel.

Can I read competitor results the same way?

No. Competitor research shows days running, formats and hooks. Click rates, costs and return on ad spend exist only for your own accounts, read directly from the platform.

How often should I check?

Weekly is enough for most accounts. Daily changes to budgets keep Meta ad sets in learning and hide real trends.
