Error validating access token: Session has expired (Meta, code 190)

Why Meta returns 'Session has expired' or 'Error validating access token' (code 190) when AdWhispr acts on your ad account: the connection died after a password change, an expiry, or a revoked grant. Reconnect under Settings and relaunch.

Whose side it is on

What this error means

The access Meta granted AdWhispr for your account is no longer valid. This happens when you change your Facebook password, when the grant reaches its expiry, or when the app's permission was removed in your Facebook settings. Every read and write fails until access is granted again.

Whose side it is on

The connection. Nothing in your ad account is wrong.

How to fix it

  1. In the AdWhispr dashboard open Settings, then Connected accounts.
  2. Reconnect Meta Ads. Sign in with the Facebook profile that manages the ad account and confirm the ad accounts and Pages to connect.
  3. Return to the chat.

The same steps apply to Google Ads ("invalid_grant", "token expired") and TikTok ("access token invalid").

Relaunch

Run the same request again. Campaigns you launched before are still in your account and manageable once reconnected.

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose my campaigns?

No. Campaigns live in your Meta account. Reconnecting only restores AdWhispr's access to them.

How often does this happen?

Meta connections expire on their own periodically, and immediately whenever you change your Facebook password.
