What this error means
Meta has put a security checkpoint on the ad account. Until the person who owns the connecting Facebook profile clears it, Meta refuses every new ad, ad set and campaign on that account, whatever tool creates them. Meta's own message tells you to authenticate but not where, and the prompt is easy to miss when you have several ad accounts.
Whose side it is on
Meta's, and the Facebook profile that connected AdWhispr. The launch itself was fine; it will go through once the checkpoint is cleared.
How to fix it
- Open the affected ad account in Ads Manager. The chat gives you a link that opens that exact account. This matters: Ads Manager normally opens the last account you used, and if that is a healthy one you see no prompt and assume nothing is wrong. Clear the verification prompt Meta shows there.
- If no prompt appears anywhere (Ads Manager, Business Settings, your profile), the flag sits on the Facebook profile itself for third-party access. Turn on two-factor authentication for the Facebook profile that connected AdWhispr, at Accounts Center under Password and security. This clears this exact block, confirmed by users; Meta can take a day or two to lift it.
- Do not keep retrying in the meantime. Each attempt fails the same way until Meta lifts the flag.
Relaunch
Once the checkpoint is cleared, run the same launch again in the chat. Nothing else needs to change. If the account was connected by a different profile than the one you verified, reconnect Meta under Settings, Connected accounts, with the profile that manages the account.
Frequently asked questions
I opened Ads Manager and everything looks fine. Why does it still fail?
You most likely landed on a different ad account. Use the link from the chat, which opens the affected account by its id, and look for the verification prompt there.
How long does the two-factor fix take?
Turning it on is immediate; Meta has taken about two days to lift the block afterwards in confirmed cases.
Is this an AdWhispr problem?
No. Meta applies the checkpoint to the ad account and refuses writes from every tool until it is cleared.
