What this error means
TikTok requires every ad to run under a real TikTok account that is linked to the ad account as an identity. It no longer accepts ads under a custom display name. Before building the preview, the chat checks for a linked identity and stops with this message when there is none:
No TikTok account is linked to this ad account as an identity. TikTok no longer allows ads under a made-up name. Link the TikTok account in TikTok Ads Manager (Assets, then Identity), then launch again.
Whose side it is on
Yours, in TikTok Ads Manager.
How to fix it
- Open TikTok Ads Manager, then Assets, then Identity.
- Link the TikTok account the ads should run under. Signing in to that TikTok account from Ads Manager binds it as an identity.
- If an agency manages the account, the identity can also be a TikTok account authorized through the Business Center.
Relaunch
Run the same launch again. The chat picks up the linked identity and shows it in the preview.
Frequently asked questions
Can I run ads under my brand name without a TikTok account?
No. TikTok requires a real, linked TikTok account. Create one for the brand and link it.
Which account is used when several are linked?
The chat uses the bound account it finds on the ad account and names it in the preview.
